Augmented-reality live show for Viessmann.

We turned a table into a stage.

At ISH 2017, Viessmann didn't just want to show how its technology works — it wanted to show how it was turning a hardware industry into a software one. That shift is invisible: networked components, algorithms, a thermostat talking to an app. So we invented a format for it — digital puppeteering. A presenter stands at a table of real objects; augmented reality extends them across a curved LED wall, and the logic of a connected home becomes something the room can follow, live.

The hard part wasn't the tech. It was three audiences.

A connected heating system means something different to everyone in the hall. So the show carried three viewpoints at once: the manufacturer driving the change, the installer whose trade is moving to software, and the homeowner who just wants control and a warm house. One narrative, told so each of them saw themselves in it — in a traditionally hardware-minded industry that doesn't warm to abstractions.

Digital puppeteering.

House, smartphone, heating unit — 3D-printed, set on the table and filmed by six cameras. Behind the presenter, a curved LED wall caught each object and wrapped it in augmented reality: the Wi-Fi, the algorithms, the data moving between devices. The presenter worked the objects like a puppeteer, and the connections lit up around them — remote control, smart-home data, the thermostat talking to the boiler — all in real time.

A full house, 190 times.

Over the fair, the show ran back to back to a packed stand.

  • 8,000+visitors at the stand
  • 190live shows

The format outlived the fair.

Digital puppeteering started here, as a way to make an invisible transformation legible. It worked — and it became a playbook we've refined for every “make the invisible visible” brief since. The best formats don't end when the fair does; they turn into a way of thinking.
