It is not easy to explain complex technological concepts such as networked components, intelligent home systems, automation and the Internet of Things - especially in a traditionally hardware-orientated industry. However, it is precisely these developments that are shaping the design of heating systems, influencing purchasing decisions and increasingly shifting installation and maintenance to software-based processes in order to significantly increase efficiency.

At ISH 2017, Viessmann therefore not only wanted to demonstrate how its technologies work, but also show how the company is fundamentally transforming the industry.

We were looking for an innovative form of presentation to bridge the gap between hardware and software and make invisible functions tangible. An augmented reality puppeteering show was the perfect approach to make the new digital features of Viessmann's technologies accessible to the specialist audience from the heating industry in a vivid way.

House, mobile phone, heating system - 3D-printed and filmed by six cameras: These props were available to the presenters to stage the XR presenter show and make the digital interaction of Viessmann technology tangible. On a curved LED wall behind the presenters, the objects were overlayed AR content in order to vividly tell the story of WiFi, algorithms and networking in modern heating systems.
