Taycan AR Event App

The Porsche Taycan AR Event App is the first broadcast AR application for journalists.

Broadcast quality on a smartphone

Available and in use since early 2021, the Porsche Taycan Event AR App brings the visual quality and precision otherwise only known from broadcast solutions to a smartphone. Now journalists can independently incorporate high-quality AR elements into their footage. All they need is a recent iPhone - and a Taycan.

High-fidelity mobile tracking

The technical innovation lies in our in-house tracking solution, which seamlessly integrates the AR Library VisionLib, originally intended for industrial applications, with Apple's ARKit. This allows the vehicle to be used as a marker while also providing high performance and complete spatial orientation; a truly bar-raising achievement we are particularly proud of.

All of the car's tech features can be displayed directly on and inside a virtual vehicle. Even the all-electric charging infrastructure is part of the real-life visualisation package that can be triggered anywhere in the world. This means there is no need to build elaborate and expensive exhibits to communicate the often complex topics.

Digitally enhanced coverage

True to our motto "communicate more and build less!" Porsche can use this augmented press kit to make event and product communication more sustainable overall, as it contributes to reducing costs for production, logistics and maintenance. At the same time, journalists are able to enhance their reporting with a professional, digital toolbox that delivers high-quality, brand-relevant images. Journalist Kits together with the app are currently being used across the globe - China, USA, France, Italy, UK and more regions to come.

"We are pioneering new technology in product communications. Porsche has become the first car manufacturer to provide journalists with a new AR application. The app integrates virtual elements into the real environment in order to present and explain vehicles and the technical developments within them – in real time. For example, we can take a look under the skin of the car at the technology within, or visualize the aerodynamic properties of the vehicle. Interested in learning more? Have a look at our video."
